This is a direct replacement for the factory unit but allows stand-alone (non-PCM) operation where customers are installing these in race applications or where stand-alone engine management is used (i.e. Holley as an example) The included plug has the Ford Spec resistor in the lamp/excite wire to preserve the regulator.
In some cases, this will eliminate the cam position sensor code error. This unit will increase the charging capacity at all RPM Ranges with NO modifications. 80+ amps at idle (2000 alternator shaft rpm) 160+ amps maximum (6000 alternator shaft rpm) The stock belt can be used on original equipment vehicles
Applications: 2007-2008 Mustang Shelby GT500 or anywhere the motor is used.
