I have a 65 Mustang with a HI-PO 289 and a Pertronix 2 ignition. The engine used to have a stutter when accelerating from a stop. I believe that was because the previous alternator was not capable of keeping the battery at 12 Volts. After installing the 95 amp alternator, there is no more stutter. Also the car has about 10 t0 15 % more power and runs quieter. I attribute the increased performance to the installation of this alternator. Also, the help from PA Performance is second to none.
The alternator fits like the stock one but puts out a lot more amperage. My car stopped stuttering on takeoff also. I can't say enough good things about the customer service. Prompt emails and chat.
This is a great upgrade .i got all 3 items .alternator ,voltage regulator and power wire for my 67 fastback .easy install I should have done it years ago .
This alternator is a perfect upgrade for any 65-73 Mustang. Just replaced my first PA Performance 95 amp on my 72 Mustang which I installed 10 years ago. I bought this to fit my 1969 Mercury Cougar as a replacement for my original (1G) 60 Amp unit. The difference between a 1G and a 3G required modifications to both the engine and the Alternator. One of the 3 bolts that holds the Alternator together interferes with the bolt head of the upper alternator mounting bracket. Had to grind down one of the wings on the bracket and the head of the bolt. Also had to grind off a bit of one of the bolts on the alternator. Once installed the wiring in the instructions tells you to leave one of the original wire harness wires disconnected as it is unused and has some signal on it. I determined that it was indeed the original grounding wire for the regulator so I connected it to ground as it was originally. Unit runs fine. I do get a little belt squeal on first start up that lasts for a few seconds, but then stops. I hope this goes away after my new belt settles in and I can readjust the tension. One last issue, the new threaded hole is different then the stock alternator and requires a metric bolt on you classic American car which of course is all English.
Bought this item to boost my charging system on an early mustang I converted to aftermarket efi. The part arrived in perfect shape, and the install went smoothly. I did have to do a bit of searching for other installs since my harness is a bit different than what was described in the instructions. After the install, my car makes 14.2v at any rpm. The old 65A 1g would only develop low 13’s at speed and low 12’s at idle.
Works great. From12v at idle before the upgrade to over 14v with all accessories running after the upgrade.

Works great, Tech support Great. Power coating is thin. Be careful because it will chip very easy.
