Product Description
This is a very popular replacement for 1989-1998 Dodge Ram pickup with the 5.9 Diesel Cummins. This unit has a maximum output of 160+Amps and will produce between 80A to 90A at idle depending on whether the engine is gas or diesel and shaft speeds. This unit will increase the charging capacity at all RPM Ranges with NO modifications. If you are looking for a 1-wire unit select the 2227SE part number.
** NOTE ** there were two types of alternators used, one had a side facing B+ output stud and one was rear facing. Our unit will come with a rear facing stud. The wire will reach and there are no clearance issues, but be aware that this can be a difference and the wire may bend tightly as a result.

Alternator bolted up fine and is running well. Only change I would suggest is shouldered nuts for the field wires.

Alternator for 1996 Ram Cummins
Rating this product a 4. I installed it four days ago. Product arrived well packaged, double boxed, foam peanuts and bubble wrap. Product appears new and of good quality. Be aware: the product is titled 123Amp Nippondenso Alternator, however this is a Nippondenso STYLE alternator. I contacted the company will consider clarifying their website to avoid confusion. The wiring harness went on fine, all of the nuts were the factory size so the same tools fit when removing the old alternator as installing the new one. Reused hardware included the harness clamp nuts and the two large mounting bolts. The PA product came with a new 10 mm nut for the hot wire, and two new little nuts for the field connections. Be aware, the new field connection nuts are not nylocks like the factory ones are. Installation went well, product fit is good. Upon startup voltage was immediately within specification. Good product (four days old) for a good price.
